This is the downtown Coos Bay waterfront. I am having so much fun riding here. The weather has been perfect- mid 60s and sunny. People have been really nice. I just stopped for lunch before I head up to the Coquille River.

Nice weather and nice view.
Seeing how much you are riding reminded me of something. I was yelled at when I tried to get fuel in Oregon. Apparently, they don’t allow self-serve.
Don’t be like me (if you haven’t already tried to fill up).

Is it still full service if I want to siphon. Asking for a friend.

I would totally play that off like this:

I was almost finished with the fillup before the lady came out and yelled at me. I couldn’t figure out who she was and why she wanted to help me. My first thought was that she was homeless and wanted to earn some cash. I fully expected her to offer to clean my windows. Instead, she started grabbing for the nozzle before I understood what she was rambling on about.

There is one town in Arizona that used to not allow self serve gas. I found that out when I stopped for gas on my SV. Having someone fill you up while on a bike is strange.

They changed That about a year ago. You can fill up your own tank now.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been up there. How do the locals feel about it? Did it result in lower gas prices?

Not sure, I'm North in Washington. Apparently we're responsible enough to fuel up our cars.

I think they treat it differently in Oregon than NJ. I grew up in Jersey so I was very used to the full serve concept. But motorcycles are almost always self serve and often times diesel is as well. And if you have a car that's kinda broken and won't fill properly without a magic touch, as long as you tell the attendant they will understand and just let you do it.

I didn’t realize you were that far north. One of my great uncles lives in Olympia. His kids live in Washington and Oregon.

A lot of Oregon is very rural and kind of operates the same way. First time I got gas in Oregon I filled it up myself. The attendant came out and let me know you couldn’t pump your own gas in Oregon. I told him I thought only Jersey girls didn’t pump their own gas.
